The 5th Human Biology Symposiumを開催しました
The Human Biology Symposiumは、筑波大学主催で行われる国際学術交流イベントTsukuba Global Science Week 2016（TGSW2016）の一環として毎年開催しています。5回目となる今回は、「Towards the Application of Human Biology Basic Researches」、「Systems Biology Café」、「International Entrepreneurship Training」、「Student Presentation」の4つのセッションを主催し、世界各国から3日間で300名以上の参加がありました。
「Towards the Application of Human Biology Basic Researches」、「Systems Biology Café」では、世界をリードする研究者の研究成果が発表され、講演後には活発な議論が行われました。学生からの質問も多く、筑波にいながらにして世界の最先端研究に触れ、地球規模課題解決に向けた意見交換を行う素晴らしい機会となりました。
「International Entrepreneurship Training」では、カリフォルニア大学アーバイン校、サンパウロ大学、国立台湾大学、ボルドー大学及び海外企業からゲストスピカーをお招きし、各国の起業家育成教育の現状と成果が話されました。午後には、各国の大学から既に起業、もしくは、これから起業したいと考えている学生のアイディアコンペティションが行われ、カリフォルニア大学アーバイン校のRachel Gurlinさんがベストプレゼンター賞を受賞しました。
3日間通して開催された「Student Presentation」では、口頭発表とポスター発表合わせて63名の参加がありました。HBPから5名の学生が参加し、見事に下記３名の学生が口頭発表2位、ポスター発表1位に輝きました。下記、受賞学生からのコメントです。

It's a great honor for me, to receive this prestigious outstanding speaker award in Tsukuba Global Science Week, the biggest international annual science event of Tsukuba city. I would like to thank my school, lab, and institute for giving this opportunity to me and their kind helps made me receive this award.

I always believe that "Tsukuba Global Science Week" is a great platform for students to step in to science world and build up themselves as budding scientists. Improving myself from poster presentation last year to a oral presentation this year, I am thrilled to be awarded as a outstanding speaker. This appreciation has given me the moral to carry on my work to benefit the world one day. Finally I want to pay my gratitude to all my supervisors, this achievement wouldn't be possible with out their continuous guidance.

As a student in the HBP program, I have always looked forward to attending TGSW every year. This year was the first time for me to present in the student presentation session, and I was very grateful for the feedback I received from various faculty members and students. Presenting at TGSW was a great opportunity for me to discuss new ideas and approaches that I could apply in my research.
